DAY TWENTY SIX | The silence of the Lambs
May 26, 2009
WELCOME TO DAY TWENTY SIX | THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS
ESTHER. 4:14 – For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
All that is necessary for evil to triumph; is for good people to remain silent. The imperative of the great commission is not just to go, but to declare. To preach the gospel – which is the good news of the Kingdom of God. It is a directive from God to the church. “Go into all the world, and preach the gospel.”
We should be declaring the good news of the Kingdom through whatever form and medium society uses. Every form of media should be utilised by the church to tell the good news to a hurting world.
However the greatest medium for the transfer of information has always been word of mouth. New societal trends still happen through word of mouth. World fashion still flows through word of mouth. Business still flourishes through word of mouth. And the good news of Jesus still flows best through word of mouth. We are to convey Christ through our testimony and be witnesses to His great power. We are to boast in Him and brag on His body, our local church. We are to share His miracles with those we do life with. Witnessing is not difficult when you have witnessed something dramatic.
Christ in you is a dramatic miracle and there are many who would give anything to know the peace and joy that comes from receiving Christ. How can they hear unless there is a preacher? You are called to preach the gospel in whatever way you do life.
Some simple keys to sharing your faith!
- Build relationships with people everywhere.
- Love people just the way they are.
- Find common interests you can share together.
- Pray continually for the right opportunity to share your story.
- Listen to their story first before sharing yours.
- Let the Holy Spirit do His work.
- Never speak ill of your church and its leaders.
Somebody needs your story today. Walk with a “divine appointment” expectation and God will use you in awesome ways.
PRACTICAL
1. Identify the five people who share your life the most.
2. How many of these people have heard you share your faith story.
3. Plan to get with those who haven’t and listen to their life story.
4. Ask if you can share your faith story next time you get together.
5. Pray for God to give you favour when sharing your faith story.
