DAY EIGHTEEN | STAY FOCUSSED

WELCOME TO DAY EIGHTEEN – STAY FOCUSSED

Wow how time flies! We are up to day 18 of our 70 days to excel and there are so many areas of improvement I still want to address.

The rush of enthusiasm at the start has now died down to the steely resolve of discipline and commitment.

Remember! To see good success you have to move from;

Desire through Discipline to Delight.

Make sure you keep focussed on the prize at the end of the 70 days – or whatever period you have committed to.

My three primary areas of resolve are;

  1. To lose weight – action = more exercise + better diet
  2. To become spiritually more alert – action = more prayer + Bible reading
  3. To increase my financial capacity. – action = better budgeting & more projects to release finance.

I have also identified a number of other areas of challenge that I am working to see improve in my life and ministry.

I have found this season to be such a great time of reassessing my effectiveness as a person and as a leader, and it is becoming a very revealing journey.

However I thank God that in Jesus Christ we find our sufficiency and strength to accomplish all things.

May this “70 days to excel” bring you closer to Jesus, and may His life abound in and through you in a greater measure than ever before.

PRACTICAL

1. Identify the three primary areas in which you are trying to improve.

2. After nearly three weeks are you making the kind of progress you anticipated?

3. Who do you need to bring on board to keep you improving at the rate you planned?

4. In what areas have you failed and need to begin again right now – so you do not give up?

DAY EIGHTEEN | The Business of Life

May 18, 2009

WELCOME TO DAY EIGHTEEN | THE BUSINESS OF LIFE

JOSHUA 2 : 14 – So the men answered her, Our lives for yours, if none of you tell THIS BUSINESS OF OURS. And it shall be, when the Lord has given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with you.

Notice “this business of ours” that the men spoke of, had to do with “possessing more.” They were to possess the lands and nations God had promised to them. Their business was to possess, and once they had possessed, they were to deal “kindly and truly” with all those who had assisted them in their dealings.

We are created to be about the business of life. God’s plan for your life is to possess and increase, so that you might be about the business of dealing kindly and truly with all those who fill your world.

Life is not to be a cut-throat get all you can business; it is to be a generous, kind and true business. People who engage in desperate measures to bring success into their lives have missed the point. God has prepared an inheritance for all who love Him and He will guide you to possess it.

You destiny in life is to find “your Father’s business” and do it with all your might. When you find God’s plan for your life, you find your fruitful place, and contribute well to your world. You will also find the vocational role that satisfies every part of your being. Many people are fulfilling the business of life God gifted them to do, but they have not made it “their Father’s business.” Without “purpose” to what you do, even the most exciting business of life becomes self focussed, boring and routine.

Make what you do “God’s purpose” for your life, and continually live as though you are on a mission for God. If you are on a mission for God you will be committed to possessing more to spread generously to others. Life is quite simple really.

PRACTICAL

1. Identify ways in which you are possessing and increasing in “this business of yours.”

2. What will it take to increase what you do to a more profitable level.

3. Identify the areas of “this business of yours” that you love with a passion.

4. Identify the areas of your life you find tedious and write down ways to delegate them to others if possible.
