WELCOME TO DAY FOURTEEN | FRUIT THAT FEEDS OTHERS

LUKE 6 : 43 – For every tree is known by its own fruit.

Some people spend their whole life as hunters and gatherers, and even defend such a position saying God made them to be such. The truth is that we are made to be creators not consumers. It does not matter how you obtained what you have, if you did not grow it, it does not have your DNA. In other words, the things we grow in our lives are the things that reveal our true DNA. Your car does not reveal the kind of person you are, nor the clothes you wear. However, your wife and your children reveal the kind of person you are.

What you grow reveals the true you. That is why it is extremely important to carefully nurture the things we have been entrusted with in life. To achieve the biggest house, the best car and a lifestyle to be envied, yet lose your marriage and have your kids resent you, is to lose sight of the real issues of life. What you can grow is what lives to represent you when you are gone. To be a tree planter instead of a tree lopper, and a values instiller rather than a villain, and to be a nurturer of family rather than a numberer of assets, will always pay greater dividends in the long run.

Remember. A tree must be planted to bear fruit. A hunter- gatherer, or person continually moving through life will invariably find it hard to produce lasting fruit. Their inventory of items may be huge, but check their fruit to see how deeply they are planted in good soil.

I used to be so impressed by people who seemed to have so many possessions in life, yet noticed that when asked to remain faithful to a cause you would find them quietly slipping to the back of the crowd. Your fruit should be evident to all, and available for all to enjoy. If it is not fruit for others to enjoy, then it goes into your possessions inventory and ceases to be fruit. How well are you known for your fruit?
