WELCOME TO DAY THIRTEEN | LEARNING TO PRAY

MATTHEW 6 : 7 – And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do.

Prayer is the exercise of the human spirit. Just as our physical body needs exercise, and our inner soul needs emotional exercise, so our spiritual self needs to be exercised.

God has given us the capacity to exercise spiritually through the medium of prayer. Prayer is the training track of our spiritual being.

Prayer connects us to the great spiritual coach of creation. Prayer measures our spiritual staying power. To neglect prayer is become spiritually lazy and indolent.

Prayerlessness is not considered a major problem in life until challenges presented cannot be overcome except by spiritual intervention. Prayer then becomes a get fit quick exercise program rather than a commitment to excel spiritually.

The other issue with prayer is that religion tries to confine it to the area of our understanding by presenting us with repetitious sayings in the name of prayer. Prayer can ever only work when it is the engagement of our inner person with the greater realm of God’s domain. When we connect with God we are being strengthened and enlarged on the inside and empowered to live life in a greater way on the outside.

Prayer is getting the genius of heaven to be expressed through the finiteness of our creation. Try expressing yourself to God today – confide your deepest thoughts and feelings, and then stop to listen and receive His thoughts and His directions for your life.

What an awesome way to live life. As a champion; trained and directed by the master coach of all creation.

PRACTICAL

1. Always start your prayer time with praise & thanksgiving to God.

2. Try talking to God just as you would a good friend.

3. Be very honest about your successes and your failures as God knows everything about you.

4. Ask for forgiveness and cleansing from the things that are not Godly in our lives.

5. Thank God that you are clean, forgiven and righteous in Jesus Christ.

6. Pray for others – God likes that.
